Cockpitbeleuchtung vom Auto spinnt- evtl. helligkeit verstellbar??

Hallo!
Habe nen Opel Astra 1,7TD Bj. 1997.
Wenn ich das Licht anmache, wird die Cockpitbeleuchtung (+ Radiolicht) normalerweise dunkler dunkler.
Seit einigen Tagen (nachdem mehrere Kinder ihr Unwesen in meinem Auto trieben)
ist die Beleuchtung so schwach, dass man kaum mehr was erkennt. Mache ich dann jedoch das Licht aus, ist sie wieder im Normalzustand.
Jetzt meine Frage, wo bzw. wie kann man das regeln??

Beim Nachfolgemodell sitzt der Regler da - wird bei dir wohl ähnlich sein:

Evtl ist die Batterie auch einfach nur kurz vorm Ende?
