Pinbelegung bei einem IC

Hallo

Ich habe hier bei mir eine 555 Timer IC gefunden und will mir daraus gerne was basteln. Nur weiß ich nicht, wie das mit der Pinbelegung ist. Ist die bei jedem IC gleich? Sprich man fängt auf einer Seite an und zählt ab oder ist die immer unterschiedlich? Habe nämlich ein Schaltplan und da steht sowas wie an Pin 8 kommt das und an Pin 6 kommt das etc.

Nur was ist Pin 8 bzw. 6 ?
